“We had a very pleasant experience while Sherwin was at our house removing the skunks that had taken up residence underneath our shed. Sherwin and his crew installed a a one-way trap so the skunks could exit humanely but not return. They also installed a guard around the shed that would prevent the skunks from digging to get underneath the shed should they decide to return. He was prompt, professional, thorough, and very friendly. He also provided a prompt follow-up to make sure that the skunks were gone. We highly recommend Sherwin and S.O.S. Skunk Spray
When coming across a skunk, one of the main things that go through your mind are fears of getting sprayed. Foul, long-lasting difficult to get rid of odor that would simply ruin the day are just about the last thing you need!
Some things to know about skunk spray are that these defensive sprays are usually the last resort for skunks. In many cases, skunks will defend themselves with warning signs urging a predator to keep away – ignore these signs and likely be wearing a new parfum a la moufette. The spray is not poisonous, mostly uncomfortable and definitely unpleasant, but fear not! If you get caught in the line of fire, not all lost!
Here are some tips on how to get rid of skunk smell!
Get rid of Skunk Spray from your clothes:
1 part vinegar, 5 parts warm water to put together a solution that will help remove the pungent smell of skunk spray from clothes or other fabrics. Soak them in the concoction for a couple hours and then throw them into the washing machine. Play around with the vinegar to water ratio depending on the level of odor your fabrics have taken!
Get rid of Skunk Spray from you or your pet:
A quarter cup of baking soda, 1 quart OF 3% hydrogen peroxide, and 2 teaspoons dish soap. This mixture used immediately after combining the ingredients is a great remedy to for skunk spray off you or your pets. Wipe down affected areas with a soaked washcloth and leave on for just under 10 minutes. Rinse off in shower or bath, and repeat if necessary! Be sure to not store this mixture in any closed containers as it may be dangerous. Keep in an lid-less open container and use immediately for best results!
Get rid of Skunk Spray from the house:
Try to pinpoint the exact location where the skunk has sprayed and wipe it down or wash it with a vinegar solution. If the exact location can’t be determined, and the room is filled with the awful stench, start with opening the windows. Let the house air out and put out fans to help with circulation. To help eliminate the skunk smell quicker, you can keep open containers of vinegar and disperse them around the home.
